About the Cobalt “Paul Penna” Public Library

That wonderful Cobalt spirit runs like a strengthening ribbon throughout the history of the Cobalt Public Library, refusing to give in to the inadequacy of cramped quarters, the frustrations of a fluctuating Cobalt economy and the ravages of fire and flame.

Those are the opening lines on the “About the library” tab from our first online edition.

Many years have passed since it was written. Now that the library’s photo albums have been digitized and with access to online archives, we can provide a more detailed, illustrated history of Cobalt’s public library.

Plus, we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the generous donation by Agnico Eagle in memory of Paul Penna, after whom today’s library is named.
